THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING.
ECOTONE
The Field Notes Collective is a group of arts professionals and working scientists all living in the Southern Alberta area who are bound by a common set of interests related to the environment, ecology, expression and activism. The mandate of the Collective is to generate awareness and dialogue about issues of shared environmental concern, working at a grass-roots level with a global reach.
In September of 2011, I received a grant from the ARDN to host Ecotone. This symposium saw over 100 artists, scientist and ranchers come together for a weekend to discuss the effect of over-grazing on the ranchland. You can read a bit more about us here, or see a video about the weekend here.

A MOBILE SCAVENGER HUNT
Recently I had a group of Graphic Design students engage in a scavenger hunt using their cell phone cameras to photograph a booklet of QR Codes that I distributed. The de-coded images returned clues to the phones, and the clues led students to interesting signage around Lethbridge. Students then photographed the signs, posted them to their Flickr accounts, and built a Google Map of all the images. We ended the night with home-made pizza - a great night!

MICHAEL CAMPBELL WEBSITE
While I designed the original site in 2005, Michael's recent work Field Recordings is a new addition. The haunting sculptures debuted at Deleon White Gallery, Toronto, in February 2008.

THE LETTER F
F is the sixth letter of the Latin alphabet. It is my favorite letter.
"Forever saddled with an obscenity, the letter F can seem vulgar or comical just by itself. Adding to F's tacky aura is our second f-word, "failure", which , in the late 19th century suggested F, not E, as a pupil's flunking grade, below D. Of the alphabet's other letters, only P can even approach the stigma of being F."
David Sacks, author of Language Visible
The letter F, however, is also one of the most beautiful letters to behold in lowercase.

It is also one of the most ligated letters. In typography, a ligature occurs where two or more letter-forms are joined as a single glyph.

Beautiful, yes?
